ezdanza

The LORCA project explores Lorca’s life and works, which became the music that guides the creation. The project merges contemporary choreography and contemporary circusart with a strong and unique language traveling from one discipline to the other, keeping the flow of a cellular organic line through the movement, music, and emotional / visual levels.

The project’s two different art forms through the life and work of Lorca has achieved the mission of the artist director, by creating a playground of multiple voices and expressions. The Lorca Project has already become a new face for ezdanza’s approach and allowed the company to explore a new way of differentiation.

“I have been very inspired by the work of Federico García Lorca and I have also had a longing to enter and explore his life and all its mystical dimensions. I use his words as stimulation for movement and virtuosity as I join his artistic expression with mine and the collaborators.  To me, it was not a choice. It became a need”.

Thanks to Canada Council for the Arts, the LORCA project became a reality. The project unites six professionals from the dance and circus disciplines under one roof, using a powerful theme and inspired by the life and work of the Spanish poet, Federico García Lorca. 

Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal has taken The LORCA Project to a higher level and as a collaborator, it is the project’s major support for bringing to life this creation on-stage to be shared with audiences.

The Lorca project is a creation accessible and appealing to dance and circus enthusiasts alike, opening up new avenues for appreciation, support, resonance and identification through its experience. 

The LORCA project was presented at Les Grands Ballets’ Studio-Théâtre in the Édifice Wilder: Espace Danse.
